Feng shui bell

The word Feng Shui literally means “Wind” and “Water”. They refer to the flowing motion of Chi, the energy that exists throughout the universe. Feng Shui pronounced as “fung schway” involves assessing and adjusting the energies in each part of your environment landscape, light, colour, spaces, objects in order to enhance the flow of chi around and within you.

Feng Shui is the channeling and blending of chi, the subtle energy that flows through everything in the universe. It is a blend of mystical ideas and practical techniques. Although it is originated in China thousands of years ago, its legend and traditions are still being practiced in India and other countries.

The fundamental premises in Feng Shui is that we live within a whirling mass of vibrating energy which forms the patterns that connect the universe in a great “cosmic dance”. The chi is pulsating in endless rhythms of creation and destruction. During the past few centuries of civilization, humans have distorted the natural flow of chi in many ways. We’ve polluted the air with fumes from cars and power stations, discharged chemicals into rivers and created harmful radiation with electricity networks and cell phone masts. The damage leads to stressful state that is called the lfeng shui Lioneaking vitality. Feng Shui can help to stabilize these energies or even use them to your advantage.

Any changes in colour, objects, light or sounds retune the chi, altering its vibrational qualities. Energy is also generated by the interaction between objects and surroundings. The basic concept in Feng Shui is that our surroundins contain and give out subtle spiritual energy.

ORIGINS OF FENG SHUI

The discipline of Feng Shui originated in hilly northern China 4,000-5,000 years ago. The people carefully assessed the landscape for features such as hills, trees, and buildings which would shield sites from the wind. They also took care to avoid locations that were too close to rivers or streams, where flooding or soil erosion could occur. They gradually came to use these skills to protect the crops and houses as well. The prehistoric Chinese associated the Cardinal points of compass with specially powerful energies. They represented these energies symbolically with the four celestial animals the Tortoise, dragon, Phoenix and the Tiger. Images of these animals have been found on pottery dating back over 4,000 yrs. ago.

THREE TYPES OF LUCK

Feng shui KingsThe Chinese say that there are three types of luck: Heaven Luck, Earth Luck and Mankind Luck.

Heaven luck is the luck you are born with, that is the influence of stars and planets on your destiny. This type of luck is very difficult to change.

Mankind luck is the luck that you draw by working hard with devotion and dedication.

Earth luck is the luck that you draw from the places you live and work with, that is the environment of your home and workplace. This is where Feng Shui and Pyra vastu comes into play.  Pyra vastu and Feng shui can bring about a positive change in your home and office and thus increase the Earth Luck.

YIN AND YANG

Every object is formed from a blend of yin and yang chi. Yin Chi is more stable, earthly, passive, receptive energy. Yang chi is stronger positive and transforming. Feng Shui is a careful blending of Yin and Yang. Total Yin or total yang is not healthy; we need a combination of both to achieve harmony. Nature balances the two energies but human environments and activities constantly disrupt the equilibrium.

FENG SHUI FOR THE FRONT DOOR

Feng shui buddhaA lot of chi comes through the front door, which in feng shui is called the “mouth”. The front door or kou , connects your home to the outside world. So. Positive energy should enter the front door. Bright lights just inside and outside the door are an excellent way to attract good chi. Constant light should be there whole night or from dusk till bed time.

Your front door should be solid or have small glass panes. A door with lot of glass will let energy leak out of kou. If there are poison arrows outside the house use shiny metal door fixtures, such as door knockers. Put round potted plants on either side of front door , with suitable plants for the Pa kua sector. There should not be three doors in a line, from the hall as it is inauspicious.A Northern hallway can make you feel isolated; the remedy is to use wooden floors and plants in the North. The chi in the Northeastern hall can cause frustration, the remedy is to use strong lightening. Crystals, and shiny metal ornaments and vases. In a South west hallway use fiery colours, strong lighting and crystals.

East, Southeast and South sectors are good for hallways, the chi promotes growth, ambition and success.

FENG SHUI FOR DINING AREA

It is best to have a Dining room that is separate from your living room and Kitchen.

Oval or round shape dining tables are better than rectangular tables.

The Oldest member of the family should have his seat in a position which is farthest from the door and with solid walls behind it.

Boost the energy of your dining table by choosing mats, napkins, tablecloths and candles in colours or materials that suit the Pa kua location.

A rounded bowl filled with rounded fruits in the center of the table, is an excellent Feng shui.

Keep electrical items including TV and stereo out of the dining room.

A large mirror reflecting the dining table and showing food such as bowl or fruit will double Life Wealth.

A Dining room in the North is good for Business guests.

In a Northeastern Dining room use Crystal glassware.

In an eastern, south eastern and south dining room the energy is good.

In the South west and western dining rooms use round vases or empty bowls.

The north west dining area is good for business dinners.

Feng SHui DragonFENG SHUI FOR KITCHEN

It requires a lot of work to produce the right blend of energies for them. The kitchen will always be a Yang room with lot of activity, but the sharp corners and electrical items in it make the chi move too quickly. One major problem in most of the kitchens is the clash of water and fire elements such as Oven and Sink. The most important task is to assess the location of fire and water items in your kitchen. The Oven, Stove top, Microwave and Toaster belong to the fire element. The Sink, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher belongs to water element. Water puts off fire. The most auspicious layout is a triangle comprising the oven and stove top, sink and work surface. We have many methods in Feng shui and Pyra vastu to separate fire and water which we provide during Pyra vastu and Feng shui consultation.
